I pity anyone who wasn't able to attend the Celebration of Rhythm and Song at CCS on Friday, February 23rd in honor of Black History Month. In a word it was: INCREDIBLE, but to be honest, one word won't do it. From the delicious food to the moving opening prayer, to the powerful presentations by Maya Bryant, Isaiah Richardson, and Patrick Holloway, to the electric violins, to the drums, to the dancing, to the singing, to the keynote speaker, it deserves so many more words: deep, fun, moving, creative, powerful, beautiful, important, relevant, loving, hopeful, memorable, and I could go on. Actually I will...Mrs. Angel Nenninger was a gracious and eloquent hostess for the evening. Ms. Elburg outdid herself with the art that filled the walls. The masks by the 6th graders were brilliant. The whole night was brilliant. Thank you to the committee/benefactors who made it possible: Venessa Baumann, Ina Bryant, Jennifer Cleare, Odekilima Iniya, Rajka Jones, and Angel Nenninger. The night was a reminder of how blessed we are at CCS to have such amazing, invested, generous parents.
